I just LOVE working with drop cloth & it was perfect for this DIY Hanging Canvas Pocket!

It’s also a great fit for creating the vintage/rustic/handmade look I prefer… AND not to mention really great for my no-sew sewing skills LOL.

This simple DIY Hanging Pocket can be made in a number of sizes & I enjoyed making both a bee themed & patriotic one myself.

I used this Rusty Eagle Design from THIS BUNDLE, but you could also decoupage napkins, tissue paper, rice paper, wrapping paper…even think about making the project REVERSIBLE!

A few more thoughts about this project:

-Be sure to pre-wash & dry your Canvas Drop Cloth before using it for crafty/DIY projects….it’ll help remove some new chemicals on the surface and shrink it down for ya.

-I also like to press my piece of cut drop cloth with a hot iron before using

-For the Patriotic Pocket, my canvas measurements were 6x20in. For the Bee Pocket my canvas measurements were 9×18.5in. These measurements included a 1in lip at top.

-I used an InkJet printer to print my design onto plain, white computer paper. To help with possible ink bleeding when decoupaging, I baked my paper in the oven on lowest temperature for 10minutes. I also lightly sprayed it with hairspray. I got very minimal bleeding on this project.

-To avoid ink bleed all together you can print on laser printer OR simply skip the step on the final top coat of mod podge.

-My resized 8x10in Patriotic Printable measured 5.5x7in. My resized 10x8in Bee Printable measured 8×6.5in.

-They do make specialty fabric hot glue, but I didn’t use that this time….as I’m not planning to launder this project

-They make different styles of the Crop-A-Dile Punch….the one I have has all the bells & whistles LOL…if you don’t order on Amazon, keep an eye out at Hobby Lobby when they’re on sale. They’re located near the other decorative punches.

-My wired jute was cut to 22in for Patriotic pocket & 24in for Bee pocket.

-They do currently sell a similar wired jute at Dollar Tree.

-To help with the styling of the pocket, I put some packing paper inside to help shape it.

-Instead of a printable, maybe find a decorative napkin, tissue paper, rice paper or even wrapping paper!

-I also offer a hub of FREE PRINTABLES if you want to take a glance at those!

-And just remember how fun this one would be if you make it reversible & put another design on the opposite side!
