The video tutorial below will help you see the steps in action, but here is a LIST OF STEPS too!

On the smaller wooden spoons I got from Dollar General, I kept the step SUPER EASY!!

  1. I simply painted in Plaster colored chalk paint
  2. Then I used a Q-tip to paint eyes & smile in black paint
  3. Next, I used a detail brush to paint an orange nose.
  4. Lastly, I ripped a piece of fabric & tied around like a scarf!

For the larger Bamboo Spoons, I added so many cute embellishments

  1. First I painted in the Plaster colored chalk paint. Let dry.
  2. I used detail brush to paint black eye circles. Once that is dry you can paint little white twinkles.
  3. I used the end of a paint brush to add black smile dots
  4. I cut a little triangle from my corrugated scrapbook paper & painted it in the Cinnamon orange color.
  5. I used hot glue to attach the paper nose.
  6. Then I took a black ink pad & lightly rubbed on the edges to give them a distressed look & add more dimension.
  7. For the snowman with blue striped hat……
  8. I cut a piece of fabric 6x6in & wrapped/glued at top of spoon to create a hat.
  9. Then I cut off excess fabric where the yarn will go.
  10. I then took a piece of the chunky yarn & glued like a pom pom on top of hat.
  11. I used my snowflake stamp on a piece of Osnaburg cotton, cut it out & glued on hat too.
  12. Next, I cut a piece of the chunky yarn & hot glued around the “neck” area for a scarf.
  13. I used my rubber stamps to make a “Let it Snow” tag on the Osnaburg cotton too.
  14. I cut a rectangle of blue striped fabric that was slightly bigger then stamped tag.
  15. I glued the blue striped fabric down in center of scarf
  16. Then glued the stamped tag right on top of blue striped fabric
  17. And finished it off by gluing a button in the center of scarf at corner of tag.
  18. For the snowman with the ear muffs….
  19. I twisted some copper wiring & glued chunky yarn pieces to create the ear muffs.
  20. Secure them onto spoon with hot glue.
  21. Next, I used my rubber stamps & black ink to stamp “brrrr” just above the scarf.
  22. Then I tied on a ripped piece of blue plaid fabric for scarf.
  23. Lastly, I glued a button in the center of the scarf.
  24. For the snowman with red/green fabric….
  25. I cut a piece of the 6x6in green plaid fabric & wrapped/glued onto top of hat.
  26. I used a piece of ripped red striped fabric to tie off the hat at top of spoon
  27. Next I stamped the word “JOY” on osnaburg cotton & glued at top of hat.
  28. To give it a finished look, I hot glued on a rusty bell (the bell was silver, but I used mod podge & cinnamon to give it a faux rust look)
  29. Then I ripped a piece of the red striped fabric to tie on like a scarf.
  30. Lastly I hot glued on 3 tiny buttons on the spoon handle right underneath the scarf.

I had the most fun adding all the embellishments on the bigger spoons. They have the cutest little personalities! I also enjoyed just keeping it simple with the smaller spoons! No matter how you choose to create them, you’ll definitely LOVE the results!!
