Easy Technique for Textured Art
Oh my goodness!! I just LOVE how this one turned out & it couldn’t get any easier! I featured this project on a Facebook live to celebrate the Mardi Gras holiday, so my palette was a wooden Louisiana state cutout…but this technique would be perfect on a variety of projects!

Here are the SUPPLIES I used to create this look:
- 22in MDF Wood Louisiana (Build-a-Cross.com)
- MDF Wood Fleur de Lis (Build-a-Cross.com)
- Dixie Belle Texture Mud
- Palette Knife
- Chalk Paint Colors (“Fluff”, “Vintage Duck Egg”, “Haint Blue”, custom mix 1/2 “Holy Guacamole” 1/2 “Dried Sage”, “Steel Magnolia”)
- Gold Metallic Paint (Golden brand, Deep Gold Iridescent)
- Paint Brushes for each paint color
**I did not show in tutorial video below, but I attached the fleur de lis onto the Louisiana with E600 industrial glue & regular hot glue. The hot glue sets it fast so you don’t have to clamp. Then the E6000 sets over a few hours for permanent hold! I love using that combo for superior adhesion.
You can check out the tutorial on Facebook Live HERE (fast forward 5min to hop over the intro chit chat). And if you don’t have Facebook, you can check out the YouTube video below.
I happen to love seeing finished projects on video versus pictures, so if you want to see a video image, you can click HERE.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this technique!! Let me know if you give it a try!! Thank you for visiting my page! Hover over any image in this post & you’ll see an option to pin it to any Pinterest board on your account! That way you’ll have it to reference later!
