It’s always fun to come up with simple DIY Christmas Ornaments! I had this set of wooden coasters in my stash for a while & thought they’d make the cutest presents!!

I decided to try a few different paint finishes just to make a variety! Here are the SUPPLIES I used & keep scrolling for a step by step on each of the 3 presents I made!

  • Wooden Coaster Set (CLICK HERE to see the exact ones I used from Hobby Lobby)
  • Folk Art Home Decor Chalk Paint in color “Java”
  • Folk Art Home Decor Chalk Paint in color “White Adirondack”
  • Water Mister Bottle
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Assorted Ripped Fabrics (Hobby Lobby)
  • Greenery (Hobby Lobby)
  • Mini Jingle Bells (Hobby Lobby)
  • Jute Rope
  • Card Stock/Twine to make little to: from: tag
  • Electric Sander
  1. for the FIRST ORNAMENT, I used the Java color as stain by adding a touch of water to the paint & misting once I painted on wood square. Then simply wipe excess “stain” off. Once dry, I used my electric sander to distress a bit. I ripped a piece of red striped fabric & tied on like a wrapped present. Next, I used hot glue to attach greenery, bell & handmade tag. I used thin jute on bell & tag to let them hang down. Lastly, I finished with a red striped ripped fabric bow.
  2. for the SECOND ORNAMENT, I stained with same Java color. Let it dry, then painted on rustic coat of White Adirondack color. Once that was dried, I used an electric sander to distress. I ripped a piece of black plaid fabric & tied on like a wrapped present. Next, I used hot glue to attach greenery, bell & handmade tag. I used thin jute on bell & tag to let them hang down. Lastly, I finished with a black plaid ripped fabric bow.
  3. for the THIRD ORNAMENT, I first used the Adirondack white paint. Once that was dry, I painted on the Java color stain. Once that was dried, I used an electric sander to distress. I ripped a piece of green plaid fabric & tied on like a wrapped present. Next, I used hot glue to attach greenery, bell & handmade tag. I used thin jute on bell & tag to let them hang down. Lastly, I finished with a green plaid ripped fabric bow.

NOTE: my bells were originally silver & I painted on the java color “stain” to antique them.

I hope you enjoy this idea & make it your very own! Maybe you find other wood squares, use ribbon instead or different embellishments?! Just have fun doing it!! Thanks for stopping by the blog!! –Summer
