After you’ve gathered your Supplies & Watched Video,

Here are the Simple STEPS:

  • Using a scraper, remove staple holding bead rope, sticky label, & wood label
  • Rip strips of red & blue fabric and attach to tag using hot glue (about a 1in wide, 8in long to be exact)
  • Next, attach jute cording to all edges of tag with more hot glue
  • Apply Gold Rub n Buff to paper mache star & then black ink on raised lines of 3D star
  • Create “liberty” fabric tag on osnaburg muslin with letter stamps and black ink
  • Cut to size of wood label and attach with hot glue
  • Apply Gold Rub n Buff and ink distressing to wood beads on hanging jute string
  • And the same for little star button that will embellish bow
  • The little rag bow is made from 4 pieces of ripped osnaburg….about 1in wide, 7in long
  • Build the bow by layering all 4 pieces to create 4 loops & 4 tails
  • Then tie with thin jute in the middle….trim to your liking
  • Reattach hanging jute with gold wooden beads with light duty stapler
  • Hot glue bow, then button onto middle of bow
  • Hot Glue Gold Star as well
  • Lastly, hot glue the liberty wood fabric tag

NOTES about the Patriotic Hanging Tag variations:

  • This design could easily be altered slightly to be double-sided! Maybe pick a different holiday or season for the reverse!
  • Use any combination of fabrics you’d like….I chose the subtle & classic ticking so the Star could truly shine!
  • You could also use decorative scrapbook paper, decoupage paper, napkin etc. instead of fabrics
  • If you can’t find this exact tag, try creating out of scrap wood or cardboard…same for the star!
  • Use this tag in any patriotic gathering, on knobs/door handles, tiered trays & wreath/swag embellishements! So many ideas!

Be sure to PIN this one for Later!
