Learn to Make a Simple & Rustic Loop Bow

I find that many creative people I chat with online, are often intimidated by Bow Making!

So if you’re looking for a simple approach to learning how, I hope you’ll enjoy this Rustic Loop Bow tutorial!

This one would be perfect for door wreaths & hangers!…..even for a really special gift!

I’ll include Supply List & short Video Tutorial below!

SUPPLIES needed to make this Bow the same size I did.

Easily adjust lengths/widths to create different bow styles with same concept.

  • 5.5 Wide Burlap Roll (Walmart)
  • 2.5 Wired Ribbon (magnolia print is from craftoutlet.com)
  • Raffia
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Scissors
  • Jute String
  • Tape Measure

5.5in Wide Burlap Roll—cut 1 strip 28in long, 1 strip 8in long, & 1 strip 1.5in long…….

–cut the 8in strip length wise, to create 2 strips that are 2.75in wide

2.5in Wired Ribbon —cut 2 strips 22in long, cut 1 strip 16in long

Now Let me Explain how to arrange all the Pieces…The video above shows the Bow Making in action, so it may be super helpful!

  • To make the one of the Easiest Bows EVER to assemble, you’ll need to take each Wired Ribbon piece and the 28in long burlap piece & use hot glue to attach the ends. This means you’ll have 4 loops/circles instead of strips for those pieces.
  • After the hot glue had dried, begin assembling your bow
  • 1st part is the 28in burlap loop…cinch at center and place in your hand between thumb and pointer finger
  • Add a bit of raffia before adding next ribbons
  • 2nd part is to take both wired loop ribbon pieces that were 22in long and crisscross them and place on top of burlap piece
  • Now you can add more raffia
  • 3rd part is to take those 8in strips of burlap you cut lengthwise and crisscross them and place on top of the wired ribbon
  • Yep, add more raffia
  • 4th part is to take final wired loop ribbon piece that was cut 16in long and lay it on top of raffia
  • Keeping center tight is very important……once bow is built, take a piece of jute string and tie tightly in center & double knot in the back
  • As a finishing look, wrap & hot glue the 1.5in burlap piece in the center
  • Now add to your desired project!! This one is such a great size for Door Hangers, Wreaths, Gift Baskets & More!

I sure hope you’ll give this beautiful & simple bow style a try! Another style to try would be my Layered Bow! CLICK HERE to see one I featured on a Hanging Basket piece!

Have a blessed day! –Summer :)
