Spring Makeover on Hanging Basket from Dollar Tree
This cute little Hanging Basket caught my eye when I was strolling the Dollar Tree PLUS ailse. It wasn’t exactly my style as it was, but I knew I could give it some Hammons Nest character using a few of my favorite craft supplies!
Dollar Tree Plus items are not $1.25……they’re either $3 or $5. If your Dollar Tree doesn’t have a PLUS section yet, keep checking because I’m pretty sure they’ll keep adding to all the stores!
KEEP SCROLLING for a Supply List, Simple Steps & the Facebook Video Tutorial of this MAKEOVER!

I did create this one from start to finish live over on my Facebook Page. You’re welcome to watch it come together by CLICKING HERE!

SIMPLE STEPS I did for this Makeover:
- First, I used wire cutters to remove all the embellishments that came with the hanging basket originally. Only thing I needed was the basket.
- My goal was to make this an Interchangeable Decor piece so my first embellishment I added was a canvas pocket on the back. To do this, I simple cut a rectangle out of my scrap drop cloth canvas that would fit & used hot glue to attach. I glued on 3 sides, leaving top open to put in/take out faux flowers.
- Next, I cut another piece of canvas drop cloth for a decorative touch on the front
- I decided to use my rubber stamps/black ink to add Happy Spring onto canvas piece
- I then used hot glue to attach the drop cloth to front
- I embellished by hot gluing 4 wood buttons in each corner of the Happy Spring canvas. Before gluing, I did use black ink pad and rub a bit on each button to give it some interest.

- I used wire cutters to break apart all the faux flowers and placed them in the pocket until they were arranged the way I liked
- I used pieces of the greenery garland to fill in and make arrangement look full
- Lastly, I made an easy layered bow using window pane ribbon, scrap burlap, ripped drop cloth & cut bunny print ribbon. Simply crisscross back and forth layering the different pieces and tie off with a piece of jute string.
- I tied the cute bow on the handle & that was a finishing touch it needed!
This DIY turned out even better than I envisioned! I love using Dollar Tree items for budget friendly crafts…..you may also like this Farmhouse Bunny Pillow!
