Styling a Fall Mantel with Vintage Charm

I am completely over the moon with how my fall mantel all came together & thought you might find some inspiration for your home! I’m including beautiful, close-up shots of all the little vignettes & will reveal just how amazingly charming it is all together!

I will also let you know where I purchased everything in case you want to grab it too! I’m also excited to include this Faux Rusty Tray Pumpkin DIY I shared with you a couple weeks ago. If you love getting crafty, you should DEFINITELY give that one a try!

Enjoy the REVEAL!

I doubt there are any rooms in my home that don’t already feel like a dose of fall warmth lol. Items like old books, baskets, milk glass, & other vintage items are a staple in my cozy home year-round. These kind of color tones, along with copper, chippy paint & weathered items make my heart happy! However, I get extra excited to add in fall elements like pumpkins, pinecones, leaves & acorns.

I was strolling through Hobby Lobby & saw the most STUNNING garland that really set the vibe for my fall look this year. I was really attracted to the simplicity of the white berries with muted orange leaves. Shortly after picking up the garland, I decided to try my hand at making a Dollar Tree Tray Pumpkin. It needed a special finish to go with my fall look & that’s why I chose the cool faux rust technique.

I knew I wanted to make a focal point with this gorgeous, vintage green crock jug! I just love how it pops off the round basket styled behind it. It also gives that antique hobnail milk glass lamp some beautiful contrast! Another touch that really makes the green jug stand out, are those weathered books (pages out). I always have a stash of books to pull from. They make great risers too, especially under small lamps & vases.

As I was finishing up my fall shopping, I knew Walmart always has a large selection of holiday decor. Much of it wasn’t really speaking to my vibes for this year, but this Thankful Pumpkin just HAD to go home with me. Of course I could probably DIY something similar, but it was only $6!!! What?! & it had the creamy white color I needed to add in & that rust, so SOLD haha. Another thrifted find that stands out here are those bunch of copper leaves….they are just dreamy & used to be wall art in the 70s. One leaf is SUPER fun with that touch of natural patina!

All together, the mantel has 3 round baskets featured. My favorite has to be the large gathering basket. I’m pretty sure I was antiquing on a vacay when I picked that one up, but it gets hard to remember lol. That wood candlestick was just so unique to me & it helps balance the green from the jug & can I just say how cute these Hobby Lobby jumbo acorns are? I ended up using a couple on the mantel & they are just precious.

Here is a close-up of the other antique milk glass lamp I used in this gathering. If I wanted to use as a lamp again, I’d need to replace the cord. I actually just love it like this though. The little base was like a tray & looked a little plain. I decided to add in some texture with natural wood acorns & mini pinecones….adorable! I also really pay attention to balancing out colors & needed a touch more white. I have a bunch of little milk glass vases & that was another great touch, especially with that creamy sunflower floral!

Here is another close-up at that DIY Dollar Tree Tray Faux Rusty Pumpkin! You will be so surprised how easy this one was to make! It layers beautifully in front of that vintage ceiling tin. You’ll be able to see it much better in the full styling shot. Also, just know I immediately threw those small corn husk looking pumpkins in my buggy at Hobby Lobby. The grapevine detailing, stick stem & rusty tendrils stole my heart haha.

I want to highlight these cutie white pumpkin picks in the vintage crock! I grabbed these at Hobby Lobby too & it was the texture that really spoke to me. Again, when talking about balancing colors, I needed a fresh feel to pop off the warm fall tones of the other florals.

I even pulled one of the white pumpkins off the pick & set it on top of the green candlestick….so cute!! When working with all these neutral, muted colors, I’ve found through practice that LAYERING is the most important thing to keep in mind! Layering colors & textures creates great interest even though it isn’t bright colors.

Well, what do you think? My creative heart is truly vintage & warm, which creates a homey, & charming vibe. I think this mantel just gives me that cozy feeling, so I’m SUPER HAPPY with it! It’s truly a great balance of how you can blend in brand new items with things you scoop up at the thrift/vintage store!

Here is where I picked up everything! Much of the vintage items I’ll change up with the seasons, but I definitely gave Hobby Lobby much of my fall decorating money lol. I was going for a timeless look I can recreate with each fall. BE INSPIRED!!
