If you’re looking for an Easy Bow Tutorial, this charming bow is made with ripped fabrics and couldn’t be any easier to create!

And a beautiful gathering of fabrics with a brown and golden color palette, inspired the florals in my Grapevine Hanging Basket.

Check out the Video Below if you’re a Visual Learner like me!

Here are the STEPS for this Easy Bow Tutorial too!

As I mention in the short video above, you can make these many different ways….changing up the widths, lengths, fabric designs, center embellishments and more! Mixing in regular ribbons, moss, & raffia can add in extra texture as well!

  • First, I gathered 4 lovely fabric designs I thought would coordinate well with the project I had in mind.
  • Next, I cut a tiny slit to rip a piece of fabric that ends up being 1-1.5in wide, about 30-36in long
  • I ripped 2 pieces of each fabric design, so I ended up with 8 pieces of fabric to make my bow
  • Using a wooden jig to hold my pieces, I started building my bow
  • I lay the center of first fabric strip between the wood dowels and bring up each tail to fold over and create loops…my loops were all about 3.5in (except for final piece of fabric at 2.5in loop)

Just a reminder that there is a Quick Video Tutorial above that really helps these directions make even more sense 🙂

  • Each fabric piece you lay down should look like kind of like a shoestring bow with 2 loops & 2 tails)
  • I built mine in a pattern using fabrics in this order….. Floral, Plaid, Bee, & Osnaburg….once I used 1 piece of each for the pattern, I repeated the pattern again where a piece of Osnaburg was the final touch and the loops were a bit shorter as I mentioned in Step 5)
  • Now it was time to remove the fabric bow bundle from the Bow Jig and tie off the center with a jute string
  • I’ll be using this bow on a Hanging Basket, so I made my jute piece pretty long to easily tie on my project
  • PRO TIP…Be sure the Center is tied TIGHT….your fabric bow will not hold up with a loose center.
  • I chose to trim up my length a little bit after tying onto my basket and then tattered the edges to make it match the rest of the ripped fabric look!
Easy Bow Tutorial to create this Fabric Bow on a Hanging Basket

Of course I had to embellish my bow a bit to go with my Floral Hanging Basket!

I first made a little kraft card stock tag using ink & a Bee Happy rubber stamp! I then distressed the edges with the same ink and attached some jute string. Last step was to hot glue the tag & a darling brown button in the center!!

  • Grapevine Hanging Basket (Hobby Lobby SKU: 1391861)
  • Golden Yellow Florals (Dollar General)
  • Wood Button (Walmart Jar of Buttons)
  • Kraft Paper Tag with bee stamp (stamp from Hobby Lobby)
  • Black Ink Pad
  • Jute String
  • Hot Glue
  • Scissors
