Using Antique Wax on Patriotic Star Decor
The star to the left is original from Hobby Lobby…..to the right is AFTER using a bit of antique wax and inks!
Just an incredible difference! And now I can’t wait for you to see how I did a set a 3 star photo holders for my coffee table decor!

Here are the SUPPLIES I used:
- Wooden Photo Holder Stars (Hobby Lobby SKU: 105286109 & SKU: 205286109)
- Folk Art Home Decor Brown Wax (Get it HERE)
- Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad “Walnut” (Get it HERE)
- StazOn Black Ink Pad (Get it HERE)
- Rub’nBuff “Spanish Copper” (Get it HERE)
- Gator Zip Sander (Get it HERE)
- Ripped Osnaburg Muslin Fabric (Hobby Lobby SKU: 676262)
- Small Wooden Buttons (Walmart)
- Vintage-inspired Patriotic Flash Cards (Get them HERE)
- White Cardstock
- Ink Jet Printer (mine is an older printer…THIS ONE is most similar if you’re in the market for one)
- Scissors
- Baby Wipes
- Hot Glue Gun
The STEPS couldn’t be Easier:
- I lightly sanded the stripes & stars
- Removed labels from back
- Applied Antique wax all over front and back & wiped back with a baby wipe
- Then applied walnut ink and black ink to edges
- Used a rubber glove to apply rubn’buff to metal photo clip
- Tied ripped osnaburg under clip
- Hot glued button on top of fabric knot
- Printed out flash card printables onto cardstock
- Cut out America, Fireworks & Liberty Words
- Attached to each star and then styled in my vintage tray
