Idea #1- Printable Art Gift Bag with Easy Bow
This first idea uses a printable to completely transform a plain gift bag — and the art can be framed and kept long after the gift is opened. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

Supplies
- 8″ x 10″ kraft gift bag
- 8″ x 10″ printable (printed on white cardstock with an inkjet printer)
- Distress ink (Timber Brown StazOn)
- Glue stick (school glue), double-sided tape, glue dots, or hot glue
- Wired ribbon (about 1½” wide – or wider if you like)
- One 30″ strip
- One 15″ strip
- Jute or twine for tying bow
- Optional: raffia or accent ribbon to go behind the bow
- Button for bow center
- Optional: rubber stamp + brown ink for a small sentiment
- Tissue paper for filling the bag

Customize the Bag with a Printable
- Print & Trim
Print the 8×10 design on white cardstock and trim off any excess edges. - Distress the Edges (Optional)
Lightly run your distress ink around the outer edges of the printable for a soft rustic border. - Attach to the Bag
Use a glue stick, double-sided tape, glue dots, or a thin line of hot glue around the edges to attach the printable to the front of your kraft bag.

Make the Easy Bow
This bow is simple and very forgiving — wired ribbon works best because it holds its shape when you fluff it.
- Create the Loops
Take the 30″ strip of ribbon and form two loops on each side (like a classic gift bow) so you have a stack of loops in the center. - Add the Tails
Place the 15″ strip behind the loops so that the ends hang down like tails. - Tie the Center
Tie everything together tightly in the middle using jute, a zip tie, or wire. - Add Extra Texture (Optional)
Before you fully secure the bow to the bag, tuck in a little bundle of raffia or another accent ribbon behind it to add texture and contrast. - Fluff the Bow
Gently pull and bend the wired loops until your bow looks full and pretty. This “fluffing” step really brings it to life. - Finish the Center
Hot glue a button in the middle of the bow. I used a darker brown button to tie in with the artwork and ink. - Stamp a Sentiment (Optional)
Use a holiday stamp (like “Santa Claus is coming to town”) in the bottom corner of the bag to personalize it even more.
Tissue Paper Tip
Instead of stuffing in one flat sheet of tissue, try this:
- Crisscross two pieces of tissue paper.
- Twist them lightly in the center, then tuck them into the bag to create a full, fluffy top.
- For a fuller look in a larger bag, repeat with another set—this bag used two “fluff balls” (four sheets total).
Not only is the packaging charming, but the printable itself can be removed and framed as décor. Don’t forget to grab your free 8×10 download — I also printed it on cardstock and popped it into a thrifted frame for instant Christmas art.
Idea #2- Book Page Snowman on a Gift Box
This next project turns a simple gift box into a cozy, vintage-style snowman scene that’s almost too cute to throw away.

Supplies
- 8″ x 11″ gift box (or similar size)
- Old book (I used a Dollar Tree book – no vintage treasures were harmed!)
- Scissors
- Corrugated cardstock/cardboard (for hat and nose)
- Distress ink (Timber Brown by StazOn or similar)
- Glue stick for flat paper pieces
- Hot glue for thicker pieces (hat, embellishments)
- Fabric scrap for scarf (I used green ticking fabric)
- Buttons for snowman buttons
- Small greenery sprig for hat
- “Cozy Season” Printable tag (if you’re a member of the Creative Nest, you’ll find these in you printable library)
- Pencil
- Felt tip pens or markers (brown, black, orange) for face and arms
Build the Snowman
- Cut the Snowman Body from Book Pages
Tear or cut pages from your book and hand-cut three circles: Bottom: approximately 4 1/2 inch wide, Middle: approximately 3 1/2 inch wide, and Head: approximately 3 inch wide, more of a true circle
The shapes don’t need to be perfect — the hand-cut look adds charm. - Attach the Body
Glue the three circles down the center of the gift box with a glue stick, stacking them like a classic snowman.

Make the Hat
- Cut the Corrugated Pieces
From corrugated cardstock or cardboard, cut:- Hat top: 3″ x 2½”
- Hat brim: 4″ x ¾”
- Assemble the Hat
Glue the brim to the bottom of the hat top to create a simple snowman hat shape. - Distress the Edges
Ink around the edges with Timber Brown distress ink for a rustic, dimensional look. This can also be done one the snowman circles as well. - Attach to the Snowman
Hot glue the finished hat to the top of the snowman’s head.
Add the Scarf
- Cut the Scarf
Cut a strip of fabric (about 10″ long) for the scarf. Add little snips along the ends for fringe if desired. - Glue in Layers
Glue the first piece across the “neck,” then knot or layer a second piece so it looks like the scarf is tied. - Tack It Down
Add small dabs of hot glue to keep the scarf laying the way you want on the box.
Embellish
- Buttons & Greenery
Glue buttons onto the snowman’s body and tuck a tiny piece of greenery behind the hat band. - Add a Tag
Glue on a small printed or hand-lettered tag (like “cozy season”) near the snowman for an extra sweet detail. - Draw the Face & Arms
- Lightly sketch the face and arms with pencil first.
- Go over with felt tip pens or markers.
- Cut a small triangle from corrugated paper for the nose, color it orange, then mute it a bit with distress ink before gluing it down.
Once you give your snowman a face and arms, he really comes to life. You can customize it even more by:
- Painting or watercoloring the book pages
- Painting the hat black or in a bold color
- Adding the recipient’s name to the tag
It’s the kind of gift box people will want to keep and display.

Idea #3- Personalized Gift Box with Wood Beads
The final idea is quick, simple, and so charming: personalize a gift box with wood letter beads.

Supplies
- Small gift box
- Twine or string
- Wood letter beads (I found mine at Hobby Lobby)
- Fabric scrap (coordinate with your other projects, if you like)
- Small greenery sprigs
- Button
- Scissors
- Tape (optional, to stiffen the end of the twine)

Add the Beaded Name
- Measure the Twine
Wrap your twine around the gift box once to make sure it’s long enough to wrap and tie a bow. Cut with a little extra length for tying. - Prep the End
If the twine frays, wrap a bit of scotch tape around the end to create a “shoelace” tip so it feeds through the beads more easily. - String the Beads
Add letter beads to spell out a name (I used my daughter Laynie’s name) or consider a word like hope, joy, or peace. - Center the Name
Slide the beads so they’re centered on the twine, leaving equal lengths of twine on both sides. - Wrap the Box
Wrap the twine around the box so the name sits on the front. Bring the ends to the top and tie a bow.
Add Simple Embellishments
- Add Fabric & Greenery
Tie a small fabric scrap into the bow area to add color and pattern, then tuck in a couple of tiny greenery sprigs. - Finish with a Button
Glue a button in the center of the bow for one more sweet detail.
This idea is perfect for:
- Personalized family gifts under the tree
- Secret Santa or gift exchanges (use words instead of names if you don’t know the recipient)
- Little keepsakes where the beads can be reused later
