Styling a Simple Patriotic Centerpiece with Vintage Charm
I absolutely LOVE going thrifting/antique shopping….you just never know what you’re going to find! I want to share with you this Simple Patriotic Styling I put together with a unique piece of crock pottery.
On a recent road trip to Arkansas, I popped into one of my favorite Booth Mall type shops….Everybody’s Antiques in El Dorado if you’re ever passing through!
It’s a REALLY good one with such a variety & it takes me a few hours to look…it’s HUGE! Great prices too!
I was shopping with my baby sister & she was so patient with how thorough of a shopper I am…..I mean I might miss something haha.
Anywho, my first find on this trip was this vintage crock!! It was so cute & caught my eye! It’s only 6in y’all!!
I looked it up & it’s considered an antique Salesman Sampler Crock. It didn’t have the lid, but $12.99 was such a FABULOUS price for it’s condition!
As excited as I get in awesome stores like this, I was truly focused on unique pieces that would work for my Patriotic Style….and that Eagle & Stars definitely grabbed my attention!
I found these Faux Snowball “Wild Hydrangeas” Florals on a recent trip to Hobby Lobby. Such a wonderful price for how nice and real they look!
I paired those with some greenery from Dollar General. It matched the light green shade of the snowball pick.
It was already looking amazing, but I for sure wanted American Flags to be the true feature of this simple centerpiece.
I used 3 4x6in Flags. TAP HERE if you want to see a tutorial on using the Antique Wax to give these flags an aged look! It really is so easy & an alternative to coffee/tea dyeing.
If you’re local Walmart doesn’t carry Waverly brand, you can order online…. CLICK HERE to see the exact product I used.
Other waxes, glazes or acrylic paint color washes would work for a similar look.
A couple more touches…..I also love decorating with vintage books, so I’m always on the lookout for those too. I already had a red and blue book that I knew would look GREAT with this gathering!
And I wanted a rusty touch to fill up some of the book space, so I incorporated a little antique pocket scale. It was a great addition to the overall look.
And VOILA!! I am so very pleased with how beautiful this looks!! Just a reminder if you didn’t already watch, TAP HERE to see a quick video of me actually styling it all!
I am really enjoying adding Americana touches to my home for all the patriotic holidays! Oh & check out this Hanging Canvas Pocket for more festive inspiration!
Thanks for stopping by the blog!! Stay Creative!! -Summer 🙂
