Valentine’s Rose Riser Craft
I made this Valentine’s Rose Riser on a Facebook Live and I plan to use as a candle riser in a little Valentine’s gathering.

Here are the SUPPLIES I used for this Easy Valentine’s Rose Riser:
- Wood Plaque (I thrifted mine, measured 8.25X11in)
- 4 Wood Candlesticks (Hobby Lobby Sku#198853)
- Vintage Rose Printable Download (Hammons Nest)
- Rice Paper (Amazon)
- Waverly Chalk Paint “Plaster” (Walmart)
- Folk Art Home Decor Brown Wax (Hobby Lobby)
- Mod Podge
- Teflon Heat Protector Sheet (Amazon)
- Iron
- Baby Wipes
- Gator Zip Sander (Amazon)
- Hot Glue Gun
- E6000 Industrial Glue (Amazon)
Here are some Simple Steps for Making this Valentine’s Rose Riser:
- Paint the Wooden Plaque with Plaster Chalk Paint
- Apply Coat of Mod Podge to the plaque, let dry
- Cut Rice Paper down to 8.5X11in so it’ll run through a printer..I have an HP InkJet Printer
- Purchase & Download Vintage Rose Printable Design in 8x10in size
- Print Rose 8x10in RoserDesign onto Rice Paper
- Lay Rice Paper Printable onto wood plaque over dried Mod Podge
- Lay Teflon Sheet over printable
- Apply heat using a Regular Iron, no steam setting
- Press until Mod Podge has been reactivated and rice paper is adhered to wood
- Use Gator Zip Sander to sand score the edges of wood plaque and release excess rice paper
- Use a brush to apply Folk Art Brown Wax on the blank underside of plaque
- Wipe away excess wax with Baby Wipe
- Apply Folk Art Brown Wax to wood candle holders
- Wipe away excess wax with Baby Wipe
- Brush a bit of the same brown wax along edges of printable design and details on wood plaque
- Seal printable & wood plaque top with another coat of mod podge
- Once everything is dry, use E6000 glue and a small dot of hot glue to bottom of wood plaque
- Allow several hours for E6000 glue to cure before handling
- ALL DONE!
